Chers étudiants et amis de L'École Française (LéF),
To ensure that each of you has an enjoyable and fulfilling experience, our classes will be limited from a minimum of 5 up to a maximum of 10 participants. We will strictly adhere to the registration policies outlined in this section and thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR A COURSE?
First, your proficiency level must be determined prior to registering for a course. Then, you may register for the class of your choice either online, by phone at (773) 857–1322 or in person in our office located at 1714 W. Belmont (please check our office hours below).
WHEN CAN I REGISTER FOR A COURSE?
You can register during the registration period (8 weeks before the session starts) or even on the day of class if space is available. However, since we are limiting the number of participants in our classes, we strongly recommend registering before the session starts to guarantee a seat in the class of your choice. Unfortunately, due to last-minute cancellations or no-shows, we cannot save a spot for a participant if we do not receive full payment prior to the session starts.
WHAT IF THE COURSE I WANT TO REGISTER FOR IS FULL? (WAIT LIST)
If the course you would like to sign up for is full, you may join the WAIT LIST in case another participant drops or transfer classes. If a spot opens up, we will send you a notification to sign up valid for 24 hours only.
If we do have sufficient participants on a waiting list (a minimum of 5 is required), we will do our best to create an additional course on the same day and at the same time the original class is offered.
WHAT IF THE CLASS I WANT TO REGISTER FOR DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT ENROLLMENT?
Unfortunately, we will have to cancel the class. In this particular case, we will try to recommend another course of the same level for you. If a class you signed up for is cancelled or full, private tutoring can be another option. In case of a class cancellation, you will receive a full refund or a full credit for the next session if no other class substitution recommendations or private tutoring are appropriate options for you.
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT MAY I USE?
You may pay online or in person with a credit card. Our office also accepts checks or cash.
HOW CAN I RECEIVE A REFUND?
You may be eligible for…
(1) a FULL refund (100% of class tuition) if L’École Française cancels a class due to insufficient registration.
(2) a PARTIAL refund (75% of class tuition) if you cancel your registration before the beginning of final registration week (a 25% administration fee will be deducted).
(3) a PARTIAL refund (50% of class tuition) before the first class for reasons other than cancellation by L’École Française.
After the first class, whether attended or not, tuition cannot be refunded. Please note that class tuition can be refunded within the same session only.
CAN I RECEIVE A CREDIT TRANSFERRED TO THE NEXT SESSION?
You may be eligible for:
(1) a FULL-credit transfer to the next session only if your request is made before classes start or if L’École Française cancels a class due to insufficient registration.
(2) a PARTIAL credit (50% of class tuition) after the first class and before the second class meets for reasons other than cancellation by L’École Française.
After the second class session, whether attended or not, class tuition cannot be transferred to the following session. Please note that credits can be transferred to the next session only. No class transfer nor credit transfer can be applied after the second week of classes.
CAN I TRANSFER MY CREDIT TO ANOTHER PERSON?
You may transfer your credit to another person if the request is received before the session starts.
WHAT IF I MISS A CLASS?
If you miss a class, you may take a make-up class of the same level at another time during the same week ONLY IF SPOTS ARE AVAILABLE.
Make-up classes are ONLINE ONLY (via Zoom). Please notify our office first in order to receive permission to enter a make-up class. Make-up classes may only be taken in the same session (ONLY TWO make-up classes maximum are allowed per session). Unfortunately, we cannot record class sessions to respect the confidentiallity of our community members . You may also contact your instructor, who is always at your disposal, to request your assignment for the next class. However, since we are not responsible for students absence, we cannot review each individual personal assignment if you miss a class. Merci de votre compréhension!
Please note that THERE ARE NO MAKE-UP OPPORTUNITIES ON THE FIRST WEEK OF CLASSES!
WORKSHOP SESSIONS (2-week sessions), CULTURAL EVENTS or OPEN HOUSE & FREE TIRAL CLASS SESSIONS
A minimum of 5 participants is required. Please note that there are NO make-ups, NO transfers, NO refunds UNLESS workshops/events are cancelled by LéF due to insufficient registration since these are offered just one single time.
Thank you for your understanding!
